Summer Pillow Style Guide

Summer Pillow Style Guide

If you are looking for a quick, inexpensive way to update your space, your pillows are a great place to start. New patterns, textures and colors can give your room a whole different feel. Choosing the right designs isn’t always easy. To help you transform your space try using this summer pillow style guide.
-
Use a cohesive color palette
Below are some great color combinations.  Summer is a great time to use a blue and yellow or grey and yellow combination.  These can work year-round and will give your space a calm feel. If you want something a little bolder, navy and orange or navy and sea-foam green are great nautical and beachy looks.

Mix and Match
The simplest way to pair pillows is with a solid color and any kind of print or pattern. You can easily pull a color from your patterned pillow onto a solid one.

Another pairing tip is to choose two similar, small patterns.  It’s very important to have a matching color palette here, if not it could end up looking like your toddler did the decorating.

Finally, try a simple pattern with something busier.  This technique should be left to the adventurous. Not only is it important to match your colors here but also the style and, in some cases, texture.

Don’t over do it
Your home is supposed to be a relaxing place so don’t go overboard by adding too many pieces.  Depending on the size of your couch or chair 2-4 pillows, in pairs of 2, should cover it. If you have a longer couch try 2 on one side and 3 on the other (see bonus tip to help you with this more).

Bonus Tip

Try using different sizes.  A large solid or simple pattern looks great behind a smaller bold print (or vice versa).  Throw pillows come is so many shapes and sizes now it’s easy to find great pieces that work together.

Welcome to The Modern Home Co. by Elizabeth Moran

Welcome to The Modern Home Co. by Elizabeth Moran

Hello and welcome to the Modern Home Co. by Elizabeth Moran, your one stop shop for your home décor solutions! I am Elizabeth Moran, the brain behind Modern Home Co. and this is my world!

To tell you bit about me I would start by describing myself, my work and what I do. If I were to define myself or tell the world who I am, I would say I’m an artist, a dreamer, a visualizer and a fantasist. I have been painting and drawing for as long as I can remember and have made a career out of it! Yes, many people say it was a bit unwise to venture out in a field where it takes ages to establish oneself, but with focus, nights spent on the canvas and by the blessings of my loved ones, I am here. I won’t say the road has been easy and smooth, it had quite a lot of bumps along the way but I made it. I always wanted a platform where I could showcase my art and paintings to the world. Thanks to technology, I can now do so.

Here at Modern Home Co. I don’t just sell original paintings but everything you could ever want to make your house feel like a home. I offer rugs, wall tapestries, throw pillows etc. from prints of my original work.

When I paint, I don’t use just a specific palette of colors but make sure that every one of those beautiful colors are on my canvas. From bright blues to mellow oranges, you’ll find a range of colors on my artwork. For me versatility is everything, which is why when designing each product I make sure that they are such that they go with every kind of style. From classic to vintage to modern, every one of my products would go with the kind of style you’re looking for. For example:

The red circles present a soothing effect of the viewer and would look great with a clean modern setting and would look absolutely breathtaking in a traditional setting. The colors are such that they go with every palette that you choose! Or take a look at this throw pillow.

Imagine this in your home; the yellow colors brighten up the sofa (and your mood after a rough day!)

I don’t just sell copies of my paintings but originals as well. So if you’re looking for an original to match up your setting, then I’ve got loads of them! I paint very frequently so there are always new works and variety for you to choose from!

Thanks for reading everyone!
